Meet our staff Wavemaker, Library Media Specialist, Mrs. Rachel Hill Mrs. Hill has spent 10 Years in Education, and this is her sixth year at LMS. Mrs. Hill was asked why she chose a career in education. Her answer “Going into Education was a natural choice - I am a third generation teacher. My grandmother (Mrs. Hill) taught in Laurel for decades. My mom is a retired teacher as well. My sister also teaches in the high school. It’s almost like it is the family business. She enjoys working with middle school students because she loves the honesty of middle schoolers! Mrs. Hil has been married to her husband Patches for 24 years. Her son is a sophomore at West Virginia University, and her daughter is a senior in high school. She has a cat named Princes Cleopatra, but they call her Cleo. She rules the house. Outside of school her hobbies/interests are travel & reading, which are two of her biggest hobbies A fun fact about her is she loves to travel; her goal is to visit a new place every year. She loves Avon, NC - the beach at the outer banks. She has been a Dallas Cowboys fan for over 30 years. When asked how she will make a positive ripple at LMS she said, “I value relationships and I care about the library being more than a place for books. I want it to be a place where students feel connected and see themselves as readers and learners. A quote she values is "Your future is shaped by the habits you repeat, not the goals you set."
